We want your time in Chiang Mai to be great. Below are some helpful tips as well as suggestions of places we love. Reach out if you need more!
Good to know
Sim Card: If you have an unlocked phone, you may want to get a prepaid SIM card for your time in Thailand. You can purchase an e-sim card through the Airalo app. It’s about $20 for 15 days. If you want a $3 discount, you can use Sarah’s referral code “SARAH8368” (full disclosure, she also gets a $3 credit when you use it). You can also purchase a physical sim card at most malls, free-standing phone stores, and 7-Elevens. We recommend purchasing a combination plan for talk, text, and data. Bring your passport and phone with you. Another option is to talk to your US phone carrier about their international plans.
Getting Around: Getting around Chiang Mai is very easy. Download the Grab app. Grab is a lot like Uber but is less expensive and you can pay with cash or a card. Another great way to get around is by Song Taew - these red trucks will take you wherever you want to go for around 30 baht.

Food Delivery: Apps like Grab make it very convenient to order food from a restaurant and have it delivered to your home. Many people find Grab most convenient, as they typically already have the app downloaded for transportation purposes.
